The outlet collector serves as a critical component for directing process flow from the reactor to the discharge nozzle. In conventional downflow operation, it is typically embedded within an inert ball bed at the reactor bottom or installed below a support grid, functioning both as a flow distributor and a safety barrier against catalyst leakage.
During reverse regeneration or standard upflow operation, the collector is positioned beneath the top nozzle, operating inversely to a feed diffuser. Its design incorporates catalyst retention capabilities to prevent entrainment during fluidization scenarios, while maintaining effective sealing performance.

Multiple geometric configurations—including cylindrical, conical, and hemispherical profiles—are available to accommodate varying vessel head designs and process requirements. The collector integrates features such as catalyst unloading nozzles and access openings for maintenance. Flow uniformity is optimized through calibrated open areas or integrated deflectors, and the assembly is secured via machined supports or centering rings with protective sleeves to shield nozzle welds from thermal exposure. Sector-based installation enables assembly through standard vessel manways.
